Time flies real fast when one's busy working~~
More than one week into my new job as a promotor at Isetan. I'm still alive!!!!! Haha..
Stand for 7 hours everyday.. Super sian on weekday mornings & super busy on weekends~
I work from morning to late afternoon on weekdays, but Orchard's a real quiet place on weekday mornings. Only tourists bother to wake up early to do shopping. Hehe.. Heard many different languages spoken by passing shoppers, Jap, Korean (i cant really tell which is which many a times), Thai, Filipino language (i forgot what's the name), lots of unknown European languages (French? Spanish? Dutch? Italian? No idea.. Lol...)
Seen many people with quirky fashion sense, be it dressing, super high heels and stilettos. Bet Orchard's the place where one get to see the highest concentration of ladies and some young girls (sec sch girls in more mature dressing, but one can still tell they are those who try to 'act old') in heels.
I mentioned about geek chic in one of my previous post, working in Orchard enabled me to prove this point man... Haha.. I see at least 2 guys donning big black rimmed, slightly squarish spectacles, some of the more adventurous ones opted for butterfly wing type of frame or colored lenses. I can easily fish out 5 'geeks' from the crowd on a busy weekend day. Cool meh? Hip meh? I think they look damn 'dut', like some 'sua-gu'.
Oh and i saw one angmoh lady covered with butterflies --yes, literally... she tattooed similar butterflies of diff sizes on her entire left arm and left calf. OMG! I was like staring at her tattoos as she walked away. Wah.. Bet the entire tattoo cost around $6000-10000.
Hehe.. after saying so much, i haven't talked much about my job hor?
Lots of things to complain about that Isetan, cos the management there sux like hell.
The aunties who work there describe the place as the '18th level of hell', 'like prison'..
Which are kinda true cos they are quite strict when it comes to dress codes (no big dangling earrings.... HELLO?!? this is Orchard Rd, not Tuas? Why can't hip promotors don nice dangling earrings??) and the supervisors and store managers always 'jia-pa-eng-eng' (that's in hokkien btw, it means being very free after eating) walk around to check on promotors. Spot check and scan people from top to toe to make sure that u are adhering to dress code, having correct posture, cannot chit-chat with other promotors (even when there isn't a single customer in sight. HELLO?!? No customers to serve leh, also cannot talk.. We are human beings not sculptures la!)
So sian lorh~~ Stricter than school's discipline master/mistress.. Buay-tahan!
Told my boss that i don't wanna continue working after the promotion ends on this thursday. Only got to know today that the promotion is being extended to next tuesday. Alamak! Thought i can rest after working almost non-stop for 2 weeks.. Have to work for several more days. Zzzzzz... Anyway, thats cos they couldn't get another brand to conduct another promotion. The management so jialat, not only promotors don't want to work here, even clothing companies don't want to set up promotion racks here.
Shall talk more about the bad stuff about the place after i call it quits next week. Shan't talk too much, lest the fcuking management people do a blog search and my blog comes out tops in criticising them. But one can guess which Isetan in Orchard i'm talking about right? The one that suffering from poor business due to lack of human traffic after an important underpass closed years ago. If you happen to be around that area, can drop by to see me wor~~ I'm working in Level One^^
Good thing about that place is the nice aunties that i've got to know from other brands. They are helpful and friendly, that's the way at work lor. When we're busy (esp on Sats) the auntie working opposite will help us to put the clothes we took back from the fitting room back on the racks when they arent busy. How nice^^
My partner's younger than me, though she has more than a year of sales experience working for another brand.. We can be on the same 'frequency' cos of our minimum age gap~~ So can chit-chat.. And that's why we got caught for chatting and the store manager informed our boss. Walau eh! Darn suay!
Lucky my boss is kind lor, tell us to scan left and right when chatting to avoid being detected. Told us to keep a low profile these few days to avoid further complaints. Hehe, even my boss who pays my salary don't mind us chatting during work as there isn't customers/shoppers around. Then why on earth are those supervisors and store managers kao-pehing?
Nothing better to do????? Jia-pa-eng-eng arh!!!
Shall update the next time when i have time to come online. Hmm.. the previous time i touched my computer was on my offday last monday.. The next offday's this coming Sat, took leave specially to celebrate my brother's birthday =p
Till then, jah-neh! Ciao!
