HARRY POTTER and THE DEATHLY HALLOWS

I know.. i should have been studying.. Yeah.. But somehow i didn't study for the past few days.
The culprit??? The latest Harry Potter book~

I was walking up the staircase of sch library, mentally prepared to mug, then... this book on the 'New Arrivals' shelf caught my eye as i walked past it. i was like Wow.. latest book leh.. Since when the sch lib's so "in", stock up on the popular books ^^ So i picked up the book & decided to browse thru it. Then...
I know it.. U guessed it.. Just got hooked on the book, ended up borrowing it home & read a total of 22 chapters *gasps* within that afternoon + night (till 1am)

I'd read all the books in the series except the Half-Blood Prince, there's 2 copies in the sch lib, but i dun intend to even touch them as i know i'll be hooked on it. Haha sounds like some spell emitting from the books?

I still arent sure whats a Hallow, much less a Deathly Hallow.. But it doesnt matter, i bet many kids all around the world have not come across the word in their entire lives.
Many many people died in the book, J K Rowling certainly showed her determination to end the series.. Bid goodbye to Mad Eye Moody, Nymphadora & Ted Tonks, Remus Lupin, Fred Weasley, Lord Voldemort and many more.
The storyline's quite engaging~ More dramatic. Better than the Order of Phoenix (5th book), which was really long and winding, i couldnt wait to finish it, yet i experienced difficulties in trying to finish it. I wonder how kids handle such a thick & heavy book, cant hold it up & read like any other paperback novels.
The story shows depth & i admire Rowling's writing style, makes fantasy comes alive! As the last book in the instalment, many details & events were re-told with revelations of previously well-kept secrets & stories. Dumbledore may not be alive in Book 7, but his presence is greatly felt & of great importance to Harry Potter. In the end, i think readers will admire his intelligence, ability to make accurate predictions that helped to bring about the downfall of the Dark Lord. Fascinating~ The ending somewhat fits the bill of a children's book, happy ending lalala~
Last chapter is about 'Nineteen years later'... Harry Potter married Ginny Weasley & had 3 kids, named after his parents & 2 Hogwarts Headmasters (Albus Severus Potter) hahah.. Ron married Hermonie & was so glad that their kids inherited Hermonie's intelligence =p

Hehe.. If u have some time, do read the book... Even if u dont have time (like me: with A Levels looming over my head), do speed-read thru =p

Cloud Loves Harry Potter, oh dun be mistaken! I meant the series of 7 books

Studying in the Library -Backtracking a lil..
This should have been posted before prelims, but at that time i was M.I.A. so yeah it's like a belated post. Lols

Spotted 2 hardworking girls who put up a banner to motivate themselves in studying.
It's the white paper with red words written on it on the right hand side of the picture below, as the picture was taken with my lousy hp camera, i'm sure u cant make out the words on the banner, cos i cant too. lols
The exact words: Come on. You can DO IT Persevere. If you can't then you MUST
Those words were highlighted, underlined, in caps.. whatever that could be done was done to make the words more prominent on the motivational banner.

But then they didnt specify u must.. (do what neh?)
Being the oh-so-kind soul, I shall help them complete the missing part:
If you can't concentrate, u MUST get beauty sleep

2 guys sitting nearby went forward cheekily for a better shot of this funny sight, but i didnt bother la.. Lazy to lift my butt off the seat..

Other interesting stuff
I found this scrawled using a black marker on a table:
w/o flapping your wings, will u know how high u can fly?
(my take on this: sorry to dash your dreams my dear, i dont even know humans have wings -.-''')

I found a slip of paper with neat handwritting which says:
So sorry! (bold & caps) for making so much noise. that is... character flaw

Yesterday:
Year 1s having promos, 2 year 1 guys strolled into the chinese section where my frens and i were sitting. One of them was fascinated by a book titled '鬼话连篇' and he read the title out aloud in a very comical way, attracting clover & i's attention. But his fren isnt interested to pick it up, so he recommended him to read chinese comics. Cos it's Chinese exams in the afternoon. Wahhh... in the midst of promos still wanna read ghost stories and comics. Later he also '鬼话连篇' in his exam scripts. Lol then bless him wor~

Econs stuff~

Econs tutorial
Upon knowing that we wouldnt be getting back our scripts on the 1st tutorial of the week:
Student E: 'Cher shall we call it a day?
Just then Student C strolled in (he's never early i daresay) repeated the same question thats bogging everyone's mind, okay probably everyone else besides me as i know econs tutors wont be able to finish marking that soon
Student C: 'Cher can go already?

Tutor: We havent finish marking, i had been staying up till 12am to mark scripts everyday, including Sat & Sun for the past 3 weeks. After about 1h, will be like zombie, try to figure out what crap u all are writing
Student B (unconvinced): Faster give us back our scripts leh, know our marks then can start planning to study... blah blah all that gibberish thats out to stall time
Tutor: U can just study.. Econs will still be as bad
Ooh our dear tutor.. how encouraging~

Going thru Market Failure's essay:
Student C: 'Cher i vomitted out all 5 points for the essay
Tutor: No need to vomit everything, just answer to the question, no point overwriting, u wont have time to finish the essay
Student C: No leh, i still got time
Tutor: Then ur handwriting must be terrible
Student C: Even if i never finish, my handwriting is also terrible
(he's naturally blessed with bad writing la, cant blame him.. lol)
Student B: All my essays are so short, i have got 50min left at the end of paper
Student E: Then u must get high marks (cos tutor had been stressing not to overwrite previously so the ingenious Student B underwrite.. maybe cos he didnt study that topic?)

Students asked for a copy of specimen paper for reference:
Tutor: Specimen paper is supposed to be kept confidential, i cant give them to you. i dont know how the ones for the other subjects are being leaked out
Student C: U dont need to give us, just put it on the table la

Tutor: The format should be around the same as A level paper
Student C: How can u be sure? What if they trick us?
Tutor: No, Cambridge wont do that
Student C: You all so innocent

Student C: Why Cambridge and not other universities?
Tutor: Due to some historical reasons...
Hmm.. i didnt occur to be why Spore chose Cambridge leh, why not Oxford? Or any other prestigious universities in the world?

Towards end of lesson:
Tutor: Good students study & think, average students study & vomit everything, slack students dont study & write crap
Hmm.. Did Student B & C take the hint?

Econs lecture
Going through essays:
Apparently the new lecturer isnt too good with using the visualiser in the lecture theatre, we were having difficulties deciphering the words as the images were unfocused, blurry and small. And to think that i was sitting in the center front part of the LT.

Lecturer flashed a page with charts & words, but nobody could make out those blurry mini mini words.. So there was some commotion as people complained to their friends.
Lecturer: When students make a lot of noise that means what is being taught is very low-level & i can just skip it right?
Students: No... Cant see..see, cannot see..see..see (many students speaking their mind at the same time, so it's kinda like echoes in a cave)
Lecturer: Next time if u all cant see, say so.
Chorus of voices: So!

I think the lecturer isnt humorous enough to catch that joke (not every econs tutor's equipped with exceptional humor like my tutor) but i loved that joke cos i really didnt think of that at that moment in time.

After she went thru the essays, i discovered that many of the points that appeared in the answer key werent present in my answers. DArn.. Somehow those details just disppeared from my brain as i was attempting the questions. Essays are goner liao lah... Kua1 Kua2 Kua3!

Studying in BK Downtown East yesterday afternoon after studying briefly in the sch library, where the apparent lack of oxygen (the air con in lib shucks for goodness sake & the problem with air circulation had been there for years) made me sleepy. Sians.

BK on a quiet afternoon was condusive for studying, as there were also others coming in to study. So sometimes i wonder how Burger King earn enough revenue to keep up with rental costs as some of its outlets are operating below optimum level, without allocative efficiency -inefficient allocation of resources so it isn't a profit maximising corporation~ (haha econs talk) as many diners are muggers or freeloaders who come in not with the main purpose of dining.

Here's some 'cases' that i have noticed... No! I aren't being disracted by the activity around me, i'm just being the forever-so-observant Cloud who notice loads of details.

-the USUAL: groups of students who lingered on after finishing food/made attempts to delay the consumption of food with the obvious intentions to mug or hold meetings/discussions

-the EXTRA no 1: spotted an uncle coming in to read newspapers, he chose to sit at a table which had an empty cup left by it's previous occupant & the BK staff hadnt cleared it (they seldom do as there's no lack of seats in the restaurant) ->smart move! needn't spend a single cent, yet can earn a good reason to stay on in the comforts of air-conditioned restaurant

-the EXTRA no 2: a man who came in armed with a packet of crackers and a can of Coca Cola (darn obvious that it isnt bought from BK la! all drinks there are served in cups if he hadnt known) he happily munched on his crackers noisily, oblivious to others in the vicinity & sipped cola straight from the can while other diners drank from straws

-the LOVEY-DOVEY: a couple from a nearby sch, 'studying' there after sch, yeah they placed textbooks on the table, but i guess they only had eyes for each other. lols. well they didnt even bother to buy any food from BK to 'decorate' the table & 'justify' their presence. they simply lay textbooks on the table as if they were on a picnic, not with food but with books (hey yo! it rhymes!)

-the HAPPY FAMILY: a family of 3 with a young chubby toddler sharing a set meal, didnt even bother to upsize it. haha and the parents were still thinking of which set meal is cheaper even as they tucked into the meal.. hmm are u sure u all had ordered enough food?

-the CHATTY STUDENTS: a group of 3 girls came in, making no attempts to hide plastic bags of food containing takeaways from KFC & MacDonald's. i wonder what they were doing there, then one of them went to BK counter and got herself a Cravio ice cream. hmmm i guess they were enjoying a fast food fiesta as they shared the food & chatted away. however, they purposely left the empty Cravio cup on the table & took the other rubbish with 'dubious' origins away with them after finishing the 'exotic' meal. does it hurt just to bring another piece of their rubbish out? youngsters nowadays.. haiz... they have warped thinking

-the TUTORS: mother/tutor bringing in a child, settled down with minimal food on the table & took out books/papers to teach the child & examine his/her work. since when the fast food joint transformed into a tuition center?

As for me.. hehe i'm proud to say i arent a cheapskate freeloader, i bought a students meal & upsized it. regretted it after that as it somehow costs much more to upsize a students meal than a regular meal. spent about 2 and a half hours mugging there, it wasnt noisy & the music played wasnt too annoying. hehe.. shall go there again if i get sick of the sch lib, but then again, i'm sick of fast food. over the past week i'd been to KFC, Carl's Jr, Superdog... Shheeet la i'm eating all that junk. oh ya not to mention the overtly sweet & surreptitiously sinful mooncakes..

Cloud tried hard to convince herself that she hadnt succumbed to junkie temptations

SENTOSA CUM VIVOCITY TRIP
With my dear friend Mosquito aka yw.. lols

Took loads of photos even tho there's only the 2 of us cos the rest of them aren't free to go out on Sunday =x
It was raining heavily in the morning & i was afraid that we couldnt go to Sentosa, but when we reached there. Woohoo.. the sun shines brightly on us.

Here's the photo spread.. Woots i'd never taken so many photos in a day.. i am not so zilian... haha more than 80 is a personal record yeah..

We absolutely adore the SILOSO word & many visitors posed for shots there =)

Being the artsy artsy photographer, i used dearie mosquito as my model to give her an idea how i want the photo to be taken, but then i realised the artistic acumen that i have is non-transferable & she certainly doesnt see things the way i do. Haha never mind... so i shall just showcase the shots that i'd taken.
She wanna get modelling fees but i told her she haven't even paid me my photography crash course workshop fees.. lols

Haha she look like model right? But the mid noon sun spoilt the otherwise perfect pic

Watching the sea & enjoying the serenity.. Emo-ing..

When's the tsunami coming???
How i love this photo angle
After spending more than 2hrs under the hot sun & i got a lil sunburnt despite staying under the refuge of my umbrella, we went back to Vivocity.
Found excellent phototaking spots in the children's play area~

Hoots... I'm Dwarf-ed!!! Heehee looking kinda stupid though

Sitting tall on the orange plastic/fibreglass material sculpture.. my legs look long~ aha

Pink heart?? Clash with the colour of my tee so not so nice la..

Finally.. After walking around for a day. Dinner at Superdog.. Tasty yummy hotdog that's crispy on the outside juicy on the inside!!! The chocolate iced mocha that im holding looks nice but hmm it's half cup ice half cup mocha cheat people money one lah.. Dun buy okay..
Late lunch at Carl's Jr was better, the Charboiled chicken burger with mayo sauce rocks! ^^
Criss cut fries is very yummy too, but i guess we were both too hungry to think of taking pics of the meal before eating. Got free flow of drinks! Heheh not bad leh, can go study there next time then can drink 3 cups of soft drinks & stay for hours, aha provided i dun get chased out loh. BUT Vivocity's more than a lil far away from my house.

I still have a lot more photos, which i'll just post it in my chinese blog, which has a accompanying photo album in the blog. High accessibility~ Blogger photo upload's a lil lag la.. Dun want to waste time.. Hehe.. That was the 1st time whereby i went to Sentosa without visiting any of the paying attractions. I wanted to watch 4D Magix show (new attraction) but the price is really steep.. $16 for 15min, woooo wahhh more than $1 per minute leh.. I rather watch a movie in Vivocity =p
CLOuD had had a good time in Sentosa

HOotS I'm back! hahaha
After 2 tumultaneous (correct spelling??!) weeks of prelims, i reckon the picture isn't rosy, Chemistry is goner.. Paper 3's a killer, pin hopes on Paper 2 -should fare slightly better, Paper 1's like tikam-tikam shade-shade-shade & try to rush through the paper within that hour.
Maths neh? A bit difficult to reach Mr Ang's goal for me this exam -PASS~ Seems easy for some Maths freaks to get 90+ marks la but that isn't the case for me. To pass, i need all the questions that i have done to be correct *pray*, while some answers that i know are confirmed wrong please at least get me some partial working marks given out of compassion.
CLL~ Serious time constraint in Paper 2 the literature section. Still figuring out how to write more than 1 page of credible stuff to answer a 10mark question within 18min (that's the figure arrived after doing some calculation for time-marks allocation) Can hardly finish answering a question properly, gotta be reprimanded for the lack of content in my oh-so-short-it's-scanty-in-the-eyes-of-teachers clit essays during prelim post mortem. DArn.
I thought Econs was fine after completing the paper so efficiently, with 20min left for me to shake legs (1st time that i didnt feel there wasn't enough time to complete my econs paper)
Hoots.. Until i went home & checked the lecture notes. WTF. I screwed up one of the essays as i drew a 'Positive externality of Consumption' graph incorrectly and it looked like a 'Production' graph instead & my subsequent explainations based on the graph are screwed too. DArn.

ANNOUNCEMENT
NEW bloG!!!

Haha.. i set up a separate chinese blog yesterday just for fun, even though i don't think i will have excess energies & time to tend to 2 blogs. I love the blog layout~ Yippeee!
Maybe i got sick of blogspot, too common, sometimes too laggy, sometimes under maintainence just when i wanna blog.
So i chose Pixnet, none of my friends are using this blog server as far as i know.
Mostly Blogspot, if not Wretch, Blogdrive, Livejournal or Diaryland.

So here's my new blog's address, u are welcomed to put it as an additional link on your blogs ^o^
http://blog.pixnet.net/westsidedawning

Hadn't accumulated enough good posts to make it a good read, but since it's still very new, pls open-1eye-close-1eye about this okies? Hehe.
See ya there!~

LAG. LAG. LAG.

Somehow i have become more laggy after a week of study break? Cos i study too much?? Nyeh! Like real la..
It goes like this...

I forgot yesterday's teachers' day.. they call it staff day in tee jay.. ah lala whatever la..
Totally slipped out of my mind.
So i was wondering why there were so many tee jay people at the bus stops outside when i arrived at 10am, i was thinking 'Hmm today's a half day?'
It took me the time required to walk from the bus stop to the school canteen via the main gate (the long way in as the side gate isnt open) to realise what the occasion was.
SLOW.

When i left at 530pm cos the library closed earlier that day, i was wondering why there were still so many students & teachers around the school since it was a half day. They seemed to be busy preparing for some occasion, in anticipation of some visitors.
As usual i continued walking while thinking, 'Is it Open House? Eh nonono.. it's long over. Then what was it???' I almost gave up as i was already walking out of the canteen. Somehow i looked right & saw a XX (i forgot what that's supposed to be called -bouquet of flowers attached on a stand with a card) I stared at the card which was then the my only clue to what was going to happen.. it read something like this -congratulations to the principal, staff.. of tee jay cee.. 30th anniversary..
Ahh.. 30th anniversary's the key word!!! That night was the $50 per pax homecoming dinner! That also explains why there's a big big white canvas tent on our assembly ground which look way too nice to be a Seventh Month getai canvas tent (to think that i'd been trying to figure out the purpose of the existence of the tent for the past week!) SLOW.
