Beatboxing. Breakdance. Hiphop. Salsa.

Hehe.. I did that all within a day!
Lalala~ It was really fun yesterday at my dance laoshi's new dance studio, we were there to 'fill spaces' just in case the trial classes held by the new instructors he recruited become 'leng chang' and it will be kinda embarrassing. Free trial lessons yet nobody came. But it wasnt the case as those dance instructors also brought along their own students.

Beatboxing.
I love this.
Brea K Ah Ah K Ah K Ah Ah
B T K B T B T K

Key:
Brea read as Breath, K as ke, T as tse, B as boots (can sound really funny if done wrongly)
Others include C as click (roof of mouth using tongue), Pff..
Learnt just these few, but it's really fun.. though i cant really open my mouth due to the teeth extraction 2 days ago...Argh! Pain. pain pain.

Breakdance & hip hop was taught by the same pro instructor Larry. Heard from laoshi that he's a regular competitor cum winner (of course! could guess it after seeing his demostration after the class) in various breakdancing competitions. Basic breakdancing steps arent very difficult, the thing is, how to execute the movements & steps in a swift manner according to the beat. Gotta move a whole lot faster.

Hiphop's style does suit me... Just groove along, if i happen to miss/forget some steps, can skip it totally & one wont look that much out of sync (provided u get the ending pose right), unlike in contemporary dance that i'm learning now. Hehe.. Hiphop's more freestyle. less rigidity.

Reggae came right after hiphop, initially i wanted to continue, but the dance floor was getting a lil too crowded. It was already packed during hiphop lesson that we kept hitting each other while dancing. Moreover the reggae instructor brought along a grp of his students, so all of us 'siamed' out. This genre may seem alien to some, actually me too (think Rainie yang's 'ren yi men' which had some reggae elements infused into it) The dance routine looked fun, lots of body waves kinda thing, need to know how to shake & twist (should be easier than breaking/bboying & jazz -for me that is) The dance instructor was really passionate about his dancing, or maybe too passionate (quoting Samarx) cos he's very DIVA-like. Yeah.. Kinda GYA. Lol. From dressing to the way he talked, danced & moved. Ace & Herman were imitating his dance moves & the funny sounds he made as he really enjoyed & was totally engrossed in the dance. Gosh! Those 2 guys did a great job in imitating that i couldnt stifle my laughter as all of us stood at the side to watch how the instructor taught.

Salsa was after reggae, my dance laoshi knew that those reggae students brought in by the reggae instructor will leave so he asked many of us to join in. True enough, the class became smaller & there were mostly our 'own people'. Basic salsa steps arent difficult, i was just scared that i'd step on some poor guy's feet as some of them didnt wear shoes. We stood in a circle and the guys will move in one direction, so we kept rotating partners. Watching salsa instructors Jerrine (correct spelling?) and Jason do a impromtu performance after the class was awesome!

Impromptu class after salsa by shigong, hehe my laoshi's laoshi, so my laoshi (he wanted us to call him that hehe though it made him sound like a chinese teacher) said we should call him shigong. I could recognise him as he had cameos in local tv drama serials, hehe Ming2 Xin1 orh!~
Man, his lesson was similar but tougher than laoshi's, really deserve the honour of shigong.
Leaping, spinning, splits... All these all so tough for someone without dance background like me.
He intended it to be a half an hour lesson which stretched to an hour without him knowing it & he said to my laoshi 'Wow so late already, how come didnt ask me to stop?' hehe i didnt catch laoshi's reply.

Left the studio in Chinatown at arnd 1030pm, reached home at almost 12am. Hehe.. Slightly later than friday, i was at the dance studio that day too. Attended the singing technique class though i cant sing on that day and sat at the side to watch the jazz & ballet classes as i couldnt participate in vigorous activities/exercise a day after teeth extraction. But i was itching to dance... so i joined in on Saturday despite the discomfort in my mouth. And surprise! I survived beatboxing class ^o^v
